Returned to Stockholm and lived, reconciled with her daughter (the two women had fallen out over the fact, that Maria Eleonora had sought the help of Sweden's arch-enemy, Christian IV), at the Swedish court, even after Christina abdicated in 1654. She died in March 1655 and was buried in the church of Riddarholmen.
