As Queen-Consort she did not participate in state-affairs and mainly occupied herself with music, painting and architecture. This seems to have led to considerable debts and incurred her the rejection of her subjects, who disliked her prediliction of foreigners. When her husband died at the Battle of Lützen (14 November 1632) her six year old daughter became Queenof Sweden. She quickly came into conflict with chancellor Axel Oxenstierna over the custoy of the young Queen.
