From the 1880s until 1964, with a few intermissions. On the 17th of February 1941 went into liquidation to prevent the Jewish firm from falling into the hands of the Germans. On the 1st of June 1943 the firm was officially closed down. To make sure business could continue, they had already established 'Schilderijen en Antiquiteitenhandel v/h D. Katz N.V.' in May 1941. Non-Jewish business relations were appointed as directors. After the war, these directors resigned and the firm was continued by Benjamin Katz until his death in 1962, and after that for a short period of time by his sons Daniël, Nico and Nathan.
