It is strange that his sister Elizabeth and her husband Tobias Stranover inherited the bulk of her father's estate and that William was almost left out. Vertue states, that this was, because William was going to marry an extreemly wealthy woman and that this fell through in the end. Virtue also mentions his 'extravagancies', which contributed greatly to his father's death in 1723 (Rajnai 1989).
