Family relations: son of Albert Grotemeyer (master baker) and Bertha Westhoff; the family has a long line of succesful middle-class entrepreneurs and dates back till the 15th century. The couple had 9 children, of which Fritz was the youngest (Kempmann 2008, p. 1-3). He married Elisdabeth Litsche (1873-1963), with whom he had two daughters: Liselotte (1895-1923) and Elfriede (1896-15.4.1944, wife of the sculptor Felix Weber) cf. Kempmann 2008
