took over his father's job at the Court Marshal Court. He had an important art collection and also seems to have painted himself occasionnally, but no proof of this exists. As a chemist experimented with colors and provided paint for a large group of artists, many of whom became his friends. He also provided his wife and artist-friends with grounded canvasses (Saur 1994)
