His friend Gustave Moreau invited him two times to stay with him in his Paris'studio (Winter 1855-1856, October November 1856), while his friend Narcisse Berchère lended him his atelier between August 1857 and September 1859, while he himself was in Italy. Both his paintings and his literary expressions were widely acclaimed in Paris: Chevalier in the Légion d'Honneur 12 July 1859, Officer in the same order on 12 August 1869 (Saur 2005).
