According to Weyerman he made drawings in charcoal on wooden panels in a winebar together wit Frans (Francis) Le Piper, in the company of an engraver, Mr. Stuart. A portrait by him of Mary Isham in Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire, is documented in a letter from David Loggan to Sir Thomas Isham of 29 December 1675, saying that 'Mr Boxhorn' had promised it would be done in about three weeks, and adding that it 'is very well painted, but I could wisch that it was more Leick' (Isham 1963) (RKDimages 300268).
